MAY 23, 2015LEAVE A COMMENTEDIT

Well the insights keep coming and the list keeps growing. The following items have been added;

Travel by Eurotunnel
Stay at Kit Hill House, Polperro
Do a river cruise on Thames, London
Sleep on a beach
Have a go on a Segway
See as much of the UK as possible
Go up Snowdon with Andrew
Take part in a Race for Life
(Full list is at the top of this page, click the link Eternal To Do List)

I am going to attempt to do river cruise on Thames this year. As for the others, well they could happen anytime!

In the meantime, check out my Warrior blog – beccywarrior.wordpress.com. If you like it and want to do the Warrior journey with Deb, visit her website – debrasimmons.co.uk – and contact her as she is about to run the whole course again, for a ridiculously low rate!

Update

MAY 18, 2015LEAVE A COMMENTEDIT

Hello ETDL-fans!

As you have probably guessed there is little to report in the grand scheme of the ETDL progression. All items, besides acupuncture, have now either been booked or started.

As I have gotten on better than I thought I am adding a few more items to my 2015 list, so progress on this will be updated in the not too distant future. In the meantime do check out my Warrior journey – beccywarrior.wordpress.com – as this has been my main focus for the last 64 days!

Good news…..

APRIL 28, 2015LEAVE A COMMENTEDIT

After much searching, yapping about it and a tiny bit of patience I now have tickets for the Rugby World cup! The tickets for South Africa v Samoa at Villa Park went on sale today and my dad – star that he is – was online waiting in a queue to snag some tickets for me 🙂 Yayyyyyyy. So, Andrew and I are going, I will be a pseudo South African fan for the afternoon and I will do my best to learn about Rugby.

So a quick recap on this years items and their progress;

Wimbledon – booked for July
Rugby game – booked for September (!!)
Greece – booked for September
War memorial tower – booked for November (well not booked, but in my diary)
Try new tea flavours – 11 tasted and two making regular appearances
Compile a list of songs – done, and continuing to add
Write a story – started….
World travels scrapbook – started…. Just some notes to write and maps to stick in
30th birthday photobook – done
Acupuncture – done a little research, just to arrange for some time this year
Read 3 principles book – I have read Sydney Banks and fully intend to borrow some more from Lu & Aunty Deb this weekend
Watch TV DVD’s – I have been watching Desperate Housewives, absolutely genius programme!

Since I am getting on so well with the ones I picked for this year, I have decided to add a few more to my list – these will depend more on money than opportunity – but money isn’t real anyway, ha ha

Visit Lyme Park
Visit Natural History Museum
River cruise on Thames
Wild camping

The adventure continues! If you haven’t had a look yet, do check out my other blog which I update daily – its been loads of fun!

22 April, light bulb

APRIL 22, 2015LEAVE A COMMENTEDIT

I had a light bulb moment… I am going to post my complete list on a new ‘page’ for easy reference! Hurray for light bulbs…..

See the link at the top of the page (ETERNAL TO DO LIST) for the complete list!

We are back…!

APRIL 19, 2015LEAVE A COMMENTEDIT

Thank you for your patience, ETDL-fans, its been a bumpy ride. I have managed to get hold of all of my original posts and have inserted them below.

I have recently been focusing on my Warrior journey (beccywarrior.wordpress.com) and gaining a lot of learning, love and spiritual growth. I was starting to feel a little guilty that I had ‘abandoned’ my ETDL blog, until I realised that the Warrior is all part of it. There was little else I have done from my list in the last days, until yesteday when I sat down with my mum and sorted accomodation for Greece! We have booked a, relatively cheap, hotel in Athens. Which looks clean and comfortable – all we really need when we plan to be out being tourists all day! For Zante, we have booked a little more upmarket and gone for a self-catering villa with a (shared) pool. We will be 20 mins walk from the beach and intend to have a relaxing, second part, to our holiday with some sun, sea, sand, swimming, siestas and food (hmm, couldn’t think of an S word for food!). All in all it should be the perfect balance of tourist fun and a relaxing break. CANT WAIT!

I am still struggling to get hold of Rugby world cup ticket – I really want to go to the South Africa game at Villa Park – if anyone knows of a way I can find out more please let me know!

As I seem to have gotten somewhere with almost all of the items intended for this year, I plan to have a glance through the list and pick a few more (relative cheap/free) items to add to this year to keep the flow!

As it’s Sunday, here is an appropriate Sunday Minion quote
“Think Sunday should 48 hours instead of the usual 24, so we have more time to prepare for Monday”

Resurrection

APRIL 9, 2015LEAVE A COMMENTEDIT

So, back in early February I was inspired to start a ‘bucket’ list, as I don’t like this term I called it my ‘Eternal To Do‘ List (ETDL). A list of all the things I really want to do at some point in my life (or my Eternity!) – one of the items was to start a blog, which I dutifully did, about the list!

Unfortunately, last Friday the website I was using to blog crashed completely and I have not been able to post on my blog since. So in a show of Warrior courage I am re-creating my blog! I have two blogs and am currently concentrating on the other one (See beccywarrior.wordpress.com) and will be back to this one soon – I have managed to get screen shots of all the posts and hope to summarise this in order to ‘set the scene’ going forwards.

Original blog

I have now retrieved my original blog about ETDL and here are the posts, in reverse order;

The ideas just keep coming…..
Posted on March 31, 2015

I came home on Sunday from a lovely, sunshiny week in Spain to a cold grey England! Whilst in Spain I did start writing my story, named the main characters and have worked out the plot. First chapter written and chapter 2 has been started. I spent a bit of time looking at acupuncture and there is a recommended acupuncture clinic just up the road from where I work, so I shall book that in due course  I also read a fair bit of Sydney Banks – The Missing Link which is very interesting and, in some cases, baffling! I am finding it enlightening though and cant wait to read the next chapter tonight.

I am not sure if it was the sunshine, vitamin D is good for you! or whether it was simply the change of scenery but my brain was a-buzz with new ideas for the list, so here they are;

Travel by Euro-tunnel (it surprises me that I haven’t managed to do this yet but there we are…)
Find and go on swingboats in Cornwall (or elsewhere)
Stay at Kit Hill House, Polperro
Go on a river cruise on Thames, London
Sleep on a beach
Have a go on a Segway
See as much of the UK as possible – I am keeping this a little vague as there is so much to see!

I was extremely excited when my friend who has started reading my blog suggested we go to Lyme House when I visit her in June, as she lives in Stockport! Ideal! I love how this is working so seamlessly.

I am also adding more songs to my list as I think of them! James Blunt, Beautiful sprang to mind last week when, as part of my Warrior journey, I decided to start looking for the beauty each day.

“Sometimes your only mode of transportation is a leap of faith”

Brief beauty
Posted on March 26, 2015

I have focused my time on the warrior blog this week (beccysheffieldwarrior.blog.com, now beccywarrior.wordpress.com) and have little to update on except to say that I have done a little research on acupuncture and the Internet is surprisingly negative about the subject, which only makes me want to experience it more !

As part of my Warrior journey I have decided to look for something beautiful every day, and where possible, take photos. I may drop a couple of those things in here too just to keep you on your toes!

Enjoy
Thanks for reading Beccy-fans

Its begun
Posted on March 18, 2015

So the Warrior course has begun and because I intend to dedicate a lot of time to it I have created a separate blog – beccysheffieldwarrior.blog.com – if you want to follow what I am doing I would love you to do so

In the world of ETDL I have a few fun bits to share…

I have today received my 30th birthday photobook! “Hurray” I hear you shout. Its quite small but practically perfect in every way! I am so pleased with it and plan to show everyone who I spend time with over the next few weeks (that should clear my diary for a while, ha ha ha!). Its a lovely collection of fun memories with some great people.

I went to listen to Mike Gayle last night at Oldbury library – such an amazing evening. Andrew & I met for dinner before hand, mmmm McDs – I was loving it! – and then walked to the library (well I might have been skipping with excitement actually…?) On arrival we were invited to purchase raffle tickets to raise some charitable funds, lucky no 281-286, fingers crossed. Mike shared his story about becoming an author, and a number of funny anecdotes along the way, including (my favourite) one about being an agony Uncle and a girl writing to him to say that she has promised herself she was only ever going to date guys who looked like him! We had time at the end to ask questions, so in the spirit of trying to find motivation with my own story writing I asked “do you always know how your books will end or do you let them write themselves?”. “Good question” he said (well yes, I have been thinking this over for nearly two weeks now I smirk to myself proudly!) and he then says that because he works to deadlines he generally knows where his books are going to end up, even though its fun to go off at a tangent here and there that wont get the story written. Hmph, so my tactic of writing whatever comes into my head (you never do? I hear you all crying!) is not the tried and tested method of Mr Gayle. Back to the drawing/writing board Bec! And the bit I am sure you are all waiting for…. the raffle……drum roll please…….. I didnt win!

Afterwards Mike was signing books and I was second in the queue, eager beaver, and so now I am the proud owner of a signed copy of “Turning 40″ – loving this too! Quick stop at McDs on the way home for apple pies…..all in all a supercalafragilistic evening! I think Andrew enjoyed it too, he was laughing from time to time

Shout out to Lawrence, my badminton buddy, who is the first (I am aware of) that has read my blog without me bribing him to – thanks Lawrence

Do check in to the Warrior blog to see what is happening over there. I will be updating here too (juggling two blogs, that is taking things to new limits!)

And here is my minion comedy to leave you with this evening:

“Everytime I make plans to eat better, I can hear my stomach laughing”

Warrior ready
Posted on March 15, 2015

Did you ever watch Gladiators? I loved that programme “contender ready? Gladiator ready?” – so I have adapted that for my title as I am starting, tomorrow, a Warrior course.

“A Warrior is not what you think a Warrior is,
They don’t fight, because it is never right to take another’s life.

A Warrior protects and serves with great strength, courage and commitment
To do this takes great understanding.”
So I am going on a Warrior journey – a pilot study created by my aunty – for 90 days and will be blogging about it as part of “Keep searching for the truth” – I am told I will that Deb (my aunty) will appear in my inbox every day for the next 90 with videos, audios, positive quotes and suggestions on daily practices to becoming a “Warrior” and you will get to enjoy the journey with me, so welcome on board!

I spent most of yesterday ‘scrap-booking’ my World Travels! All of the ‘scrap’ I collected on my way around the World has now been stuck – creatively – onto pages, all I need now is to write some comments on the pages so it tells the story of my adventures! It was a lot of fun re-living the places I went, the experiences I had and the people I met and almost made me want to go again (almost, until I went to bed in my own room, not a 20-bed hostel room with strangers, then I changed my mind!)

So I am very hyped about the Warrior course starting tomorrow and hope you enjoy what I share with you.
I shall leave you with this Minion quote, which I feel is appropriate for my blog

Flying high!
Posted on March 12, 2015

Well its been a superbly fantabulous week and I am flying on a natural high, why I hear you all asking with eagerness….

It all started with a great weekend with my family including a super chit chat with my aunty & sister about people pleasing. Something in the chat really struck a chord with me and it has shaped my week

I spent Sunday evening putting together a photobook and am eagerly awaiting an email to say it is on its way.

I went to Hobbycraaft to buy a scrapbook – I found one online but I was going to have to pay for delivery – so I went to the shop and low & behold didnt I spend more money than if I had just paid for postage! Ha ha anyway, three scrapbooks later and I have set up a little scrapbook station… see photo……this Saturday I will be spending some quality scrapbooking time on my World Travels scrap.
Blog

And the most exciting news so far! I am going to Wimbledon – HURRAY!!!!!!! My friend booked it, for me, her and her daughter. We will travel to Wimbledon on the Thursday evening, stay over in B&B, then tickets for Court 1 on the Friday for juniors and seniors. I am so excited to finally go to Wimbledon.

I have also decided to add “get nails done” to the list – I dont know anything about that sort of thing, so I am keeping it vague for now.

That’s all for now folks…

What a weekend!
Posted on March 8, 2015

I have had a fabulous weekend thanks to my wonderful family…! Masterfully crafted surprise tea party to celebrate nan’s birthday on Saturday afternoon and a lovely meal out today. Many laughs, lots of tea & cake, tons of chatting and reminiscing and some fab photos to capture the memories. And possibly a new annual tradition of a family reunion.

So, back to the list..I have now added the following items;
Go to Coventry Watch museum (Experiences)
Play Bingo! (Experiences)
Own a Tortoise (Life)
See Robbie Williams in concert again (Experiences) – Robbie was the first concert I ever went to and it was just brilliant, I would really love to see him again.

I have ordered a photobook with some choice photos of my 30th birthday year celebrations and all for the small sum of £5 – gotta love Groupon! I will let you know how it turns out (and for some of you lucky people you might even get to see it… I know I am good to you!)

And lastly, in the spirit of being a ‘blogger’ I must encourage you to read my friends blog … theperfectjuggler.wordpress.com… !

Engage the imagination
Posted on March 2, 2015

A little update for my adoring fans

On Saturday, Andrew (home)made us some ginger, cacao & chili tea – his own creation – I bravely tried it and very quickly decided it was not for me. He finished it for me  The ginger was just too strong a flavour for my delicate taste buds!

I have been, trying, to engage my imagination to come up with an idea for a story…. I wont say too much on here yet, creative genius that I am, I wouldnt want any of you to steal my idea – ha ha! I will just say Parallel universe and leave it at that.

I have been made aware (thank you Andrew) that one of my favourite authors – he got a mention in my first blog – is doing “An evening with…” in Birmingham this month. So, an opportunity has presented itself! To my shame I do not have “meet an author” on my list but as previously mentioned this is all about being open to opportunities. Does it not feel somewhat fortuitous that just when I am looking for inspiration this has been bought to my attention! Friends, Beccy must go to the ball (well ok not quite but you get my point!)

I have also decided I am going to add “Create a photobook celebrating my 30th birthday adventures” to my 2015 list.

My lists of songs continues to grow and I shall share them soon.

I have Sydney Banks (3 principles) book ready to start reading

Thats all for now folks – thank you for reading

“What makes a treasure a treasure is how rare a find it is when you need it the most”
I stumbled across this recently, I don’t know who this quote belongs to but I really like it.

I have been thinking this week about adding another item to my list along the lines of ‘be open to all experiences’ but it didn’t seem to fit because it wasn’t something I could categorically cross off – and where is the sense of achievement in that
Tonight it came clear, this list is all about being open to all experiences, its not just one single item its all of them. I am reasonably sure that none of the items on my list will work out how I imagine. They will each be an experience in their own way, and probably in a way I haven’t even thought of.

I am looking forward to enjoy all of the experiences that come along, whether they are what I expect or whether they are something entirely else!

So in summary that’s what my list is really, its being open to all experiences that come my way.

Stating the obvious
Posted on February 21, 2015

Perhaps I should have pointed out that I have also started a blog…. which for the observant amongst you is one of the items on my list (within “Life” section). Amusingly not an item I have highlighted for this year!

Of course the second part, to maintain the blog I can not really conclude I have done for quite some time. Still I do occasionally enjoy stating the obvious so there it is.

Off to buy some fish for my tank this afternoon. Nothing to do with the ETDL but fun none the less and what is life without the odd deviation from a list?!

I shall leave you with that tantalising thought..

 Additions and updates
Posted on February 20, 2015

This weeks additions are:

Go for a spa weekend retreat (Experience)

Register for bone marrow donation…… donate if required (General)

Grow and eat my own vegetables (Experience)

I imagine you are all desperate to know, on the edge of your seats, barely able to sleep awaiting an update on anything I have been doing….. well wait no longer friends, here it is (actually felt the need for a drum roll here but alas it is 11 pm and the neighbours would be upset!)

Wimbledon: I have found a website that offers an overnight Wimbledon experience for two people. I have floated the idea past my friend who seems interested! Now just to convince her husband that its worth the small fortune it will cost!! Ha ha

Greece: This evening, mum and I sat down and spent a small fortune on flights to Greece. I wont advertise who we booked through, as this is not a  free advertising space, but suffice it to say the flights are now booked (after much budget re-adjustment due to hidden costs for bags, admin charges and bizarrely extra for booking two people at the same time, hmph!). We are doing 5 nights in Athens and 6 nights in Zante…..accommodation next  Any recommendations?

War memorial tower: I believe this is opened up on remembrance Sunday in November. I have therefore pencilled this into my diary. (I just had to check my diary to be sure this was factually correct being going to print!)

Tea flavours: I have been superbly good at this recently. I received, for a previous birthday, a lovely gift of Twining s tea’s in four boxes of multiple flavours and I have been enjoying trying some of the different options over the last few weeks. I have now tried 10 different flavours; Blueberry & apple; Peppermint; Nettle & peppermint; Camomile & Spearmint; Camomile & Spiced Apple; Apple crunch; Eucalyptus & Peppermint; Camomile, Honey & Vanilla; Rooibos, Strawberry & Vanilla, Camomile.
I have found Camomile & Spiced apple to be my favourite and I now have afternoon tea at work with my “work buddy”, Chi, we drink peppermint tea – its all very civilized

Compile a list of songs I love: I have started this and am adding to it as songs pop into my head

I have very tired eyes and I can hear them begging me to go to sleep, so its over and out from me… as always, thanks for reading!

Zzzzzzzz

The chosen ones
Posted on February 20, 2015

I have chosen some activities off the list to aim towards this year. Nothing is set in stone, I just liked the idea of having chosen the ones that really stand out for me at the moment. If any friends or family would like to join me please feel free to volunteer for any activity and I will consider your application carefully

And without further ado, here they are:

Go to Wimbledon
Go to a Rugby game. I would really like to go to a World cup game so I have included this one for this year…. fingers crossed!
Visit Greece
See inside the War Memorial Tower in Coventry Memorial park
Try as many flavours of tea as possible
Compile a list of songs I love
Write a story – this may not be completed this year, but I will certainly start it…. now for inspiration….!
Complete one of my scrapbooks …probably World travels as that is now 9 years ago!
Investigate acupuncture
Read a “three principles” book

There are one or two others I may consider this year. Just mulling those over and will get back to you

I have actually made some progress on one or two above so I shall create another post later to share the ongoing adventures and I have some additions…. the fun must go on….

Thanks for reading

Eternal To Do List introduction
Posted on February 12, 2015

I have started this blog to share my Eternal To Do List with those who are interested (OK I accept that may only be one or two people but…!) – most people would call this a “bucket list” however I find that feels too much like a race against time, so I have chose Eternal To Do list.

They are three people who have inspired me to do this … 1. Sophie – for suggesting it in the first place! 2. Mike Gayle whose book The To Do List was incredible! and 3. My mum who has made lists an art form and in whose steps I follow in this art.

I very much like the idea of a pin board, both pictures and words depicting what I have completed – after all a picture says a thousand words – so I will attempt to put some pictures along the way – if it works!!

I have broken it into, rough, categories. I have no rules – yes that’s right life with no rules – just a general idea of what might happen!
If I think of something I like I will add it to my list, if I change my mind about something I will remove or amend it. I will keep you up to date with my progress or changes as I go.

This may end up being a blog about all sorts of other things too, fair warning!

Enjoy the ride!
